A coalition of Los Angeles officials are holding a ceremony on Wednesday morning to officially welcome Phase 3 of the Griffith Park Safety and Active Transportation Improvement Project.
The improvements in the area include protected bike lanes, speed humps, new signage and traffic-calming measures along Crystal Springs Drive.
In a press release, officials, including the L.A. Department of Recreation and Parks, the L.A. Department of Transportation, and 4th District City Councilmember (and L.A. mayoral candidate) Nithya Raman, also stated that the project was designed to slow vehicle speeds, reduce cut-through traffic and expand spaces for active transportation within Griffith Park.
Caltrans also reconfigured a nearby 5 Freeway on/off-ramp for safety as part of Phase 3.
