Oakland — Caltrans District 4 announces the release of the Caltrans Bay Area BikePlan Update, a blueprint for improving bicycle infrastructure on Bay Area state highways. Building on the 2018 Caltrans District 4 Bike Plan and the Caltrans Active Transportation Plans, the update lists opportunities to transform state highways into accessible and integrated community assets.

“This update reaffirms Caltrans’ commitment to safety, equity, climate action, and prosperity by providing safe, comfortable, and connected streets,” said Dave Ambuehl, acting Caltrans District 4 Director. “We are working to reimagine state highways not as barriers to alternative transportation, but as conduits for healthier, more sustainable communities.”
