The city of West Hollywood is painting existing bike lanes in green, implementing the West Hollywood City Council’s direction to improve cyclist safety and roadway visibility.
The City Council unanimously approved a policy on April 7, 2025, to install green-colored pavement on all class II bike lanes in West Hollywood and authorized city staff to begin painting bike lanes in green. Preliminary layout work is in progress. To avoid impacts on rush-hour traffic, all work is taking place at night. The bike lane repainting is anticipated to be completed by Friday, Feb. 20.
The existing bike lanes on both sides of Santa Monica Boulevard between Almont Drive and Kings Road/Flores Street will be painted green, along with bike lanes on the south side of Santa Monica Boulevard between Doheny and Almont Drives. Also, lanes on both sides of Fairfax Avenue between the city’s northern border between Sunset Boulevard and Fountain Avenue to Willoughby Avenue will be painted; as well as lanes on North San Vicente Boulevard between Santa Monica and Beverly boulevards.
