We explore the history of the Kestrel 4000 and the “Godfather of Carbon,” Brent Trimble, who bypassed the “black aluminium” era to create the first mass-produced carbon monocoque frame. Finally, we put a vintage Kestrel KM40 to the test against a modern Orbea Orca Aero to see just how much progress we’ve really made in four decades.
