The Parking, Transportation & Infrastructure Committee (PTIC) of the Venice Neighborhood Council met Wednesday evening (5/27) to discuss new bicycle lane options slated for Washington Blvd., the largest single corridor and artery to the beach.
But the committee became mired in bureaucratic red tape, with a notification issue and the unprecedented action by the Administrative Committee to refuse the VNC from deliberating the Windward Pedestrian proposal now seemingly in limbo.
Chaired by Richard Stanger, the committee consists of Crystal Lopez, Selena Inouye, Andreas Kemkes, Colin Warn, and David Wolf. Also in attendance was VNC Vice-President Gary Pearl and Outreach Chair Erica Moore.
The meeting got off to a rocky start as questions regarding proper notification were discussed, and it was resolved that no motions would be entertained, just informational in presentation. It was unclear why the meeting notification was being questioned, as Chairman Stanger assured notification was properly posted and members of the audience were in attendance, obviously knowing the time, date, and location of the meeting.
Nevertheless, the “meeting” continued without any formal committee action as a quorum did exist.
